Lexicomp Online Mobile App Subscription Update



Current Subscribers:

Existing mobile app subscriptions will expire at the end of JANUARY. You will need a new product code to continue to access your mobile app/smartphone Lexicomp software.

There are easy to follow, step-by-step instructions for new users and those who are renewing their subscriptions.


New Subscribers:


Please note that new users will need to follow Step 1 of the instructions to “Create an Account” before proceeding with installing on their phone or tablet.


Where ELSE Can I Find the New Code? The code has also been updated on the  Lexicomp Online Introductory page, called “Mobile App Access” (found on the upper right hand side of the page).

Due to the expected impact of Tropical Storm Nate on the Mobile area, the University of South Alabama Biomedical Library will be closed on Saturday, October 7, Sunday, October 8, and Monday, October 9.  We plan to reopen at the normal time (7:15 a.m.) on Tuesday, October 10.

Independence Day 2017

The Biomedical Library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th for the Independence Day Holiday.  The library will be open Monday, July 3rd and will resume normal hours on Wednesday, July 5th.

Closed for Memorial Day 2017

The Biomedical Library will be closed Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. We will be observing usual hours during the weekend, May 27 & 28.

We'll open with summer hours on Tuesday, May 30.

The Biomedical Library will be closed on Easter, this Sunday, April 16, 2017. We will observe regular hours Friday and Saturday and will re-open Monday at 7:15 am.

Closed for Mardi Gras - 2/28/17

The Biomedical Library will be closed for the Mardi Gras holiday on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Regular weekend and Monday hours will apply, and we will reopen on Wednesday, March 1 with regular hours.

VisualDx Now Available


VisualDx Interface
VisualDx is a differential diagnosis tool, focusing on improving diagnostic accuracy through visualization of diseases. It is also an educational resource for health sciences students and residents and can be used as a point-of-care reference. The database covers over 2,700 pediatric and adult conditions with almost 40,000 images, and is an appropriate application for the fields of dermatology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, and pediatrics. The tool supports limiting by symptoms/signs, location, patient age, sex, and more after the initial search.
The VisualDx mobile app is available on iOS and Android. From the homepage, scroll down and click on "Get the Mobile App" to register for a personal account to be used on mobile device. Then download the app in the App store. The web version of VisualDX is connected to UpToDate and visa versa to make it easy to navigate between UpToDate and VisualDX.

Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

The Biomedical Library will be closed Monday, January 16, 2017 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The library will remain open Saturday and Sunday, and it will reopen with usual hours Tuesday, January 17 at 7:15am.

UpToDate Now Available

UpToDate Interface
To meet the demands of our faculty, residents, students and other health care providers, the Biomedical Library has subscribed to UpToDate. To access UpToDate, use the link above, or the links from the resources section of our homepage or our databases page.
UpToDate is an evidence-based clinical decision support resource. It covers over 10,500 topics in over 20 medical specialties and includes more than 28,000 graphics, more than 400,000 references and a drug database.
To use the mobile app, first register for a personal account by using the "Register" link under the search bar on the UpToDate homepage or the login link on the mobile version of the UpToDate homepage. Then download the UpToDate app from the app store on your mobile device and sign in using your personal account. To register for a personal account you must be on the campus of and using the network of the university, one of the hospitals, SHAC, or MCI. Personal accounts are not available through the proxy login or over VMware.
